چکیده

In this issue of The Journal of Nuclear Medicine, Gabriel et al. (1) report their experience with 68Ga-labeled 1,4,7,10tetraazacyclododecane-N,N9,N99,N999tetraacetic acid-D-Phe1-Tyr3-octreotide (68Ga-DOTA-TOC) PET in a series of 84 patients with neuroendocrine tumors (NET). PET was more accurate with a higher detection rate than somatostatin receptor scintigraphy (using 111In-DOTA-TOC or 99mTc-labeled hydrazinonicotinyl-Tyr3-octreotide [99mTc-HYNIC-TOC]) and CT, providing further clinically relevant information. NET represent heterogeneous and complex entities derived from neuroendocrine cells, which are characterized

The Diagnostic Efficiency of 99mTc-EDDA/HYNIC-Octreotate SPECT-CT in Comparison with 111In-Pentetrotide in the Detection of Neuroendocrine Tumours

OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to assess the diagnostic efficiency of (99m)Tc-EDDA/HYNIC-Octreotate in comparison with (111)Inpentetrotide scintigraphy in the detection of neuroendocrine tumors. This study also evaluates the impact of SPECT-CT hybrid imaging on somatostatin receptor scintigraphy (SRS) interpretation and clinical management of these tumors. METHODS Fourteen patients were ...

Clinical utility of indigenously formulated single-vial lyophilized HYNIC-TOC kit in evaluating Gastro-entero Pancreatic neuro endocrine tumours

Objective(s): The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance and utility of 99mTc HYNIC-TOC planar scintigraphy and SPECT/CT in the diagnosis, staging and management of gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GPNETs). Methods: 22 patients (median age, 46 years) with histologically proven gastroentero-pancreatic NETs underwent 99mTc HYNIC-TOC whole body scintigraphy and regi...

Diagnostic efficiency of 68Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT as compared to 99mTc-Octreotide SPECT/CT and conventional morphologic modalities in neuroendocrine tumors

Objective(s): In view of somatostatin receptor (SSR) expression on cell membranes of the majority of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs), functional imaging exploiting analogs of SSR alongside the anatomical imaging is the mainstay of this diagnostic modality. In this prospective study, we assessed and directly compared the diagnostic parameters of 68Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT and 99...

Somatostatin Receptor-Based Molecular Imaging and Therapy for Neuroendocrine Tumors

Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are tumors originated from neuroendocrine cells in the body. The localization and the detection of the extent of NETs are important for diagnosis and treatment, which should be individualized according to the tumor type, burden, and symptoms. Molecular imaging of NETs with high sensitivity and specificity is achieved by nuclear medicine method using single photon-em...

Somatostatin receptor scintigraphy in liver metastasis detection from gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors.

UNLABELLED In patients with gastroenteropancreatic (GEP) neuroendocrine tumors, we investigated the usefulness of somatostatin receptor scintigraphy (SRS) in the detection of liver metastasis, which represents the most important prognostic factor in these tumors, and in the management of affected patients. METHODS We enrolled 149 patients with GEP tumors, 69 during initial staging and 80 in f...
